Wearing retainers properly is the surefire way to maintain the stunning smile you’ve worked so hard for.
We ask our patients to wear retainers after treatment to prevent their teeth from shifting back into their original position, undoing the hard work they just went through.
Retainers are simple, but it’s critical to wear them properly to preserve your beautiful and healthy smile.
Continuous use: For the first 9 months, almost all retainers need to be worn continuously day and night.
Clean twice a day: Use a toothbrush, plain soap, and fresh water to remove food particles and plaque from your retainer.
Case closed: Store your retainer in its case when you need to remove it and don’t make adjustments to the retainer.
One more tip. It’s normal if it takes a little time to learn how to speak properly while wearing your retainer. Don’t worry if you slur or stutter, you’ll soon adapt and feel confident speaking.
